The best French restaurants for July 14

After last week’s red, white and blue themed holiday, get ready for another one. July 14 in France is this weekend, the national celebration of the French Revolution. If you are not able to cross the pond by plane to the country of Bordeaux, foie gras and Chocolate breadthe next best way to celebrate is with French food and wine closer to home – Forbes Travel Guide has curated a list of restaurants across the country that are ready for a party.

DB Bistro Modern, Miami

This elegant restaurant by celebrity chef Daniel Boulud, New York‘s Forbes Travel Guide Five Stars Daniel– attracts a crowd of MiamiFrench community on National Day. Until July 14, the restaurant is offering specials to celebrate—order the white cosmos cocktail to start (vodka, Saint-Germain, cranberry juice, and lime juice chilled with a sphere of ice filled with orchids). For your main course, try the restaurant’s popular burger – it’s filled with red wine-braised ribs, foie gras and black truffles – which will be topped with a festive French flag and served with a complimentary glass of Bordeaux.

Stopper, Yountville, Calif.

Head to Wine Country, ideal for French vacations, and Bouchon, Thomas Keller‘s most relaxed restaurant near Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star The French Laundry. Bouchon is hosting an all-day party: Dishes will include whole roast pork and lamb, plus grilled Merguez sausages and tarte flambée, plus a pancake station and oyster bar. Finish with warm beignets and sample this year’s signature drink, Punch à la Dwyer made with pineapple, citrus fruits, cognac, Burgundy wine and champagne. For children, you will find carnival games, a caricaturist, a make-up artist and live music from French bands. Don’t forget to try your hand at dunk tanking – you might dunk legendary Chef Keller (proceeds will go to Yountville Elementary School).

Michel Richard Center, Washington D.C.

This year will mark the fifth annual July 14 celebration at washington d.c. restaurant, the more relaxed sister of the four-star Michel Richard Citronnelle. Starting Saturday at 5 p.m., you can order from a holiday menu of classic French dishes and be served by waiters wearing berets. Be sure to order a bottle of wine – all French bottles will be 15% off for the occasion. Want to be a wine lover? Play a game of a revolutionary themed wine game with the restaurant’s general manager and sommelier. The laissez-foure jazz quartet will perform from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Pierrot Gourmet, Chicago

This cafe is on the ground floor of the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star The Chicago Peninsula. From July 9and through the 15and, enjoy a special French menu for July 14th. Choose a bibb salad with garden herbs and Dijon vinaigrette to start, or opt for duck confit over mashed potatoes and a side salad. Then try the Thermidor lobster galette topped with artichokes, mushrooms, Gruyère and drizzled with tarragon-mustard aioli. The staff will carefully select the wines to accompany your meal, including a Sauvignon Blanc from Château Haut Sarthes or a Pinot Noir from Domaine de Régusse.

Joel Robuchon, Las Vegas

To commemorate the holidays with a French dining experience, make a reservation at Five-Star Joel Robuchon inside the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Vegas. The restaurant epitomizes sophisticated French style with its plush velvet seating and dazzling chandeliers. Tasting menus range from 5 to 16 courses, including dishes like French hen with roast foie gras and the chef’s famous mashed potatoes.
